Binance APP Search and Filter Features Explained

Binance lists hundreds of trading pairs. How do you quickly find what you're looking for in an ocean of coins? Search and filter are your navigation tools. Today we take a comprehensive look at how the Binance APP performs in this area.

Global Search

Entry Points

The global search bar is located at the top of the APP's home screen and is very prominently placed. There are also search entry points at the top of the Markets page and the Trading page. Testing confirms all three entry points deliver the same search functionality.

Search Methods

The Binance APP supports multiple search methods:

Ticker search: Enter "BTC," "ETH," or other tickers — the most direct and common method.

Full name search: Enter "Bitcoin," "Ethereum," or other full English names. Testing shows partial full-name matching is also supported — entering "Bit" will match Bitcoin.

Trading pair search: Enter a complete trading pair code like "BTCUSDT" to navigate directly to that trading pair.

Fuzzy search: Enter partial characters and the search engine performs fuzzy matching. For example, entering "DOG" can find DOGE and SHIB (the results display relevant meme coin recommendations).

Testing shows search results respond very quickly — they start appearing as you type with no noticeable wait time.

Search Result Display

Search results are displayed as a list, with each result containing:

  • Coin icon
  • Coin name and ticker
  • Current price
  • 24-hour price change
  • Trading pair type tags (spot, futures, etc.)

If the same coin has multiple trading pairs (e.g., BTC/USDT, BTC/BUSD), they are displayed on separate rows so you can choose the specific pair you need.

Search History

When you tap the search bar without typing, your search history is shown. Testing shows up to 20 recent searches are saved, with a "Clear History" button in the top-right.

Trending Searches

Below the search history is a trending search section showing coins with the highest recent search volume. This feature helps you discover market hotspots — if an unfamiliar coin suddenly appears in trending searches, it may be worth investigating.

Market Page Filters

The Markets page offers more powerful filtering tools to sort trading pairs across multiple dimensions.

Market Category Filter

The tab bar at the top of the Markets page serves as the first-level filter:

  • Watchlist: View only saved coins
  • Spot: All spot trading pairs
  • Futures: Futures trading pairs
  • New: Recently listed coins

Within the Spot tab there are secondary categories:

  • USDT market
  • BTC market
  • BNB market
  • ETH market
  • Other markets (e.g., FDUSD)

Price Change Filter

The market list supports sorting and filtering by price change:

  1. Tap the "Change" column header at the top of the list
  2. First tap: Sort by biggest gainers
  3. Second tap: Sort by biggest losers
  4. Third tap: Restore default order

This three-tap interaction design is intuitive. Testing shows each sort switch responds in under 0.5 seconds.

Volume Filter

Using the same logic, tapping the "Volume" column header sorts by volume. For users looking for high-liquidity trading pairs, this filter dimension is extremely useful.

Price Filter

Tap the "Price" column header to sort by price. For fans of low-priced coins, this filter quickly identifies the cheapest coins in the list.

Advanced Screener

The Binance APP also has a powerful advanced screener that is somewhat hidden.

How to Access It

Markets page → "Filter" icon in the top-right corner (funnel shape).

Available Filter Conditions

By sector:

  • DeFi: Decentralized finance-related coins
  • Layer 1: Public blockchain coins
  • Layer 2: Layer-2 network tokens
  • Meme: Meme coins
  • GameFi: Gaming finance
  • NFT: Digital collectibles-related
  • AI: Artificial intelligence-themed

By market cap range:

  • Large cap (Top 50)
  • Mid cap (Rank 51–200)
  • Small cap (Rank 200+)

By price change range:

  • Up more than 10%
  • Up 5%–10%
  • Within ±5%
  • Down 5%–10%
  • Down more than 10%

By volume:

  • High volume
  • Medium volume
  • Low volume

Testing shows the advanced screener supports combining multiple conditions. For example, you can simultaneously set "DeFi sector + Up more than 10% + High volume," and the system will return trading pairs that meet all conditions.

Filter Results

After applying filter conditions, the market list updates immediately to show the filtered results. The top of the page shows the currently active filter tags — tap any tag to quickly remove that condition.

Testing confirms the filter logic is accurate and results match manual verification. Multi-condition combined filtering also performs well with no noticeable loading delay.

Coin Detail Page Search

On a coin's detail page, you can also search for related information:

Trading pair switching: Tap the trading pair name at the top of the detail page to open a search panel, where you can quickly switch to other trading pairs for the same coin.

Related coin recommendations: The bottom of the detail page sometimes shows recommendations for other coins related to the current one — for example, the ETH detail page may recommend other Layer 1 blockchain coins.

Search Performance Testing

We tested the search feature's performance across several real-world scenarios:

Test 1: Searching for a Newly Listed Obscure Coin

Enter a ticker for a coin that listed recently — testing showed it was found and displayed within 0.5 seconds, demonstrating that the search index updates quickly.

Test 2: Fuzzy Search Error Tolerance

Deliberately enter a misspelled coin name (e.g., type "DOGE" but with an intentional variant) — the search still matched correctly. However, if the spelling differs too much (e.g., "SLANA" instead of "SOLANA"), there's no match and results return empty.

Test 3: Search Speed

In a good network environment, continuously search for 10 different coins — average search response time approximately 0.3 seconds. The search experience is very smooth with no perceptible delay.

Test 4: Advanced Filter Accuracy

Set the conditions "Meme sector + 24-hour gain greater than 5%" and manually verify each result returned — the filter logic is confirmed to be completely accurate.

Practical Search Tips

Tip 1: Use Trending Searches to Discover Opportunities

Check the trending search rankings daily. If you see an unfamiliar coin there, the market may be paying attention to a new hot topic.

Tip 2: Quick Trade Shortcut

Each coin in search results has a "Trade" button next to it that jumps directly to the trading page, skipping the multi-step navigation of search → market → trade.

Tip 3: Use the Advanced Screener for Sector Rotation Analysis

Regularly use the advanced screener to compare price performance across different sectors. For example, if DeFi coins are broadly rising today while GameFi coins are falling, this sector rotation information can be valuable for investment decisions.

Tip 4: The Search Bar Can Also Find APP Features

Beyond coins, the search bar also supports searching for APP feature entry points. For example, entering "Deposit" quickly navigates to the deposit page, and entering "Earn" navigates to the Earn page.

Experience Summary

The Binance APP's search and filter system is quite comprehensive. From basic global search to advanced multi-condition screeners, it covers the needs of users at different levels.

The highlights of the search feature are its speed, accuracy, and support for multiple search methods. The highlights of the advanced screener are its sector classification and multi-condition combinations, making it a very practical tool for market analysis.

The only improvement suggestion: the advanced screener's entry point is somewhat hidden, and many users may not know this feature exists. If there were a more prominent entry button on the Markets page, the usage rate would likely be higher.
